Almost all types of glass may be processed Toughened with exceptions of eg, 2mm or 3mm glass. The process involves cutting the glass to size/shape polishing the edges if required and heat treating it in an oven.
The glass when fitted provides a safety aspect where if broken it shatters into fragments usually 6mm thickness pieces where there is less likelihood of harm to oneself or the surroundings. It has a hardness factor of up to five times normal glass. Toughened glass cannot be recut or reshaped.
